Megan Jones
I am currently a BA undergraduate studying Film, Television and Digital Production at Royal Holloway University, London, and aspire to be a makeup and prosthetic artist.
When I first started studying for my degree, I had aspirations to become a director, but after directing a few short films, I realised that my interest and passion lay more in the production, costume and makeup design of the film, rather than the directing.
Following this, I decided to combine my already established love for beauty and editorial makeup with the world of makeup SFX and prosthetics and apply my skills to create a short film that would showcase my abilities within this profession.
My graduate film focuses on the original stories of popular fairy tales, shining the gory light that was intended by the authors upon writing. I used my project to highlight the falsities forced upon younger generation by large conglomerate film companies, such as Disney, that imply the stories of the princesses to be magical and beautiful, even though they are anything but!
Ultimately, I enjoy the transformation and character that makeup can bring to the world of film, and wanted to showcase my growing skillset of prosthetic and makeup!
